An arhat is a person who has gained insight into the true nature of existence and has achieved nirvana: One who has advanced along the path of Enlightenment, but who may not have reached full Buddhahood. Such a depiction is a blessing to the traveller on the road to Enlightenment. Carved in stone and devotionally painted by hand.
