Yamantaka Statue: ‘Death Tamer’ - ‘Diamond Terrifier,’ Buddhist, Nepal, 20th Century

In this classic and traditional depiction Yama moves with his consort Vajravetali to dispel fear. Engulf in transformative flames of purification, each holds power implements of teaching while their dance tramples on Gods, men and animals. A masterful carving with powerful presence created (apparently) from a single piece of wood. Age is uncertain - 50+ yrs. old. Note: There are two surface cracks due to age however structurally sound.
