Ganta and Vajra - ritual bell and consort

The sound of the Ganta (bell) is regarded as auspicious in Tibet; it is used to drive away negative attachments. The Ganta represents wisdom, the feminine principle. It’s consort is the Vajra which represents the compassion of the Buddha, the masculine principle. To achieve enlightenment, these two principles must be combined.
